OMC Virtual Magic Contest December 2021
The Oakland Magic Circle is pleased to announce that the Winter OMC Magic Contest will be conducted via a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, beginning at 7:00 pm. Now is the time for Members to polish their acts for presentation during the Contest.
Cash prizes will be awarded in the amounts of $150 for First Place (plus a Trophy), $100 for Second Place and $75 for Third Place.
Eligibility: All OMC Members and Membership Applicants who have paid their dues for 2021 or 2022
(2022 dues are $25.00 through December, 2022. New members can join now and get December 2021 included so you can compete in the contest)
Non-Members wishing to participate should contact the OMC Treasurer at marc.c.mcguire@gmail.com no later than Wednesday, December 1, 2021, to apply for membership and pay dues.
Rules: All categories of magic (Close-Up, Parlor, Stage, Mentalism, etc.) are welcome to participate in the Contest. Performances may be either “live” or pre-recorded for presentation during the Zoom meeting. Performances should be at least 6 minutes in length and no longer than 12 minutes.
Sign-Up: To plan for the Contest, we ask those who are interested in participating to send an email to the OMC Contest Coordinator at Garymeyeredf@gmail.com no later than Friday, December 3, 2021, indicating your interest in performing, the category of your performance (Close-Up, Parlor, Stage, Mentalism, etc.), its approximate duration in minutes and whether your presentation will be “live” or pre-recorded. In the event of time constraints, selection of participants will be in the order of their sign-up.
There needs to be a minimum of 6 entrants and a maximum of 10.
Access: Shortly before the contest date, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, a Zoom link will be sent to OMC Members and invitees who have been sent this announcement. Participants will be notified at that time of their order of appearances and approximate time slots. The contest will begin shortly after 7:00 pm and is expected to last about two hours depending on the number of participants. If you know you might be late please alert us so we can schedule you accordingly as long as you will “arrive” by 8pm.
The contest will be available for live viewing by the magic community and friends.
It will also be recorded for viewing by members only after the contest. If you do not want your act t be included in the members only video please alert us when you send your other information.
